Coupang AI Workforce Surges 50% to 750 Professionals

Coupang announced on the 23rd that it is accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI)-based automation and robotics technologies while expanding recruitment for related roles.

Coupang Fulfillment Service (CFS), the company’s logistics subsidiary, stated that its Automation division now employs over 750 professionals, a 50% increase from September of last year. Compared to January of last year (330 people), the workforce has more than doubled.

The Automation division is primarily composed of full-time engineers who operate and maintain AI-based automated equipment and robots. New roles specializing in AI technologies, such as industrial engineering and transportation equipment, have also emerged. CFS plans to hire an additional 180 automation professionals by the end of the year.
