In a rapidly evolving world where technology continues to shape daily life, the integration of home and vehicle systems has taken a significant leap forward. Imagine stepping out of your apartment in the morning, only to find your car already running its air conditioning, waiting for you in the underground parking lot. This scenario is no longer science fiction but a reality made possible through a groundbreaking collaboration between two major South Korean companies.

Hyundai Motor Group, the leading automaker in South Korea, and Samsung Electronics, the country's top IT company, have joined forces to introduce the ‘Home-to-Car’ service. This innovative service merges Hyundai’s Connected Car platform with Samsung’s SmartThings platform, offering users a unified experience that allows them to control both their home appliances and vehicles through a single app.

Enhanced Control Through a Single App

The ‘Home-to-Car’ service is accessible via Samsung’s SmartThings app, which has been designed to offer real-time monitoring and control of various devices. Users can now check the status of their Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis vehicles directly from the app. This includes important details such as tire pressure, door status, climate control settings, remaining driving range, window conditions, and battery levels.

Moreover, the app enables remote execution of key functions like locking and unlocking doors, starting the engine, activating climate control, and managing electric vehicle charging. This level of control extends beyond just the car; it also integrates with home appliances connected to SmartThings, including TVs and refrigerators. This means users can manage multiple devices from one central location, enhancing convenience and efficiency.

Automated Scenarios for Enhanced Convenience

One of the most impressive features of the ‘Home-to-Car’ service is its ability to automate specific scenarios. For instance, when a user activates the “Leave Mode” by opening or closing a door equipped with a smart lock, the system automatically turns off all lights and appliances, starts a robot vacuum cleaner, and simultaneously turns on the vehicle’s engine and climate control. This seamless interaction not only saves time but also ensures that the environment is optimized for the user’s departure.

Compatibility and Requirements

It is important to note that this service is available exclusively for Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles equipped with the latest infotainment systems. To access the full range of features, users must update the SmartThings app to the latest version and link their Connected Car service accounts, such as Hyundai Bluelink, Kia Connect, or Genesis Connected Service.

Hyundai Motor Group has also announced that the Connected Car service will be provided free of charge for five years upon purchasing a new Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis vehicle. After this period, the service will transition to a paid model. A representative from Hyundai Motor emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering a seamless experience that connects automobiles with everyday life.

This collaboration between Hyundai and Samsung marks a significant step towards a more integrated and convenient future, where technology enhances the way we interact with our homes and vehicles. As these innovations continue to evolve, the possibilities for smarter living and commuting are expanding rapidly.
