QuickAir Launches Domestic GDS with New Leadership

Strategic Restructuring and GDS Relaunch Signal New Era for QuickAir Networks Ltd

QuickAir Networks Ltd, a leading provider of aviation technology solutions, has recently announced a significant corporate restructuring alongside the relaunch of its domestic Global Distribution System (GDS) tailored specifically for Nigerian travel agents. This move marks a strategic shift aimed at reinvigorating the company’s role in Nigeria’s rapidly growing aviation sector.

The company made this announcement through a statement released to the public. In the statement, QuickAir’s management revealed several key leadership changes. Suleiman Ibrahim has been appointed as the new Chairman of QuickAir, while Dr. Segun Oyebolu takes on the dual role of Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Additionally, Muyiwa Amoo has joined the leadership team as Executive Director, Finance and Administration.

A Modernized GDS Platform

The revamped GDS platform offers travel agents real-time access to domestic flight inventory, multi-airline booking capabilities, competitive pricing, and integrated payment solutions. The platform was developed to address long-standing challenges in the industry, such as fragmented systems and limited data access. By streamlining flight bookings across all major Nigerian airlines, the GDS aims to enhance efficiency and improve the overall customer experience.

Suleiman Ibrahim, the new chairman, emphasized that the restructuring represents a strategic pivot to better serve the Nigerian aviation market. He stated, “With the relaunch of our domestic GDS, we are democratising access to flight inventory and empowering travel agents with world-class technology that was previously unavailable in this market.”

Ibrahim also addressed the temporary suspension of operations in December 2022, assuring clients that all wallet balances will be fully restored. “This is not just a promise but a commitment we are backing with immediate action,” he added.

Enhancing Operational Efficiency

Dr. Segun Oyebolu highlighted the operational efficiencies brought by the new GDS platform. He noted that the system could reduce booking times by up to 70 per cent. “We are transforming how travel agents operate in Nigeria by aggregating real-time domestic flight options and improving the end-user experience,” he said.

The platform is engineered to support over 10,000 concurrent users and process transactions in seconds. Key features include instant seat confirmation, fare and schedule comparison across multiple airlines, and compatibility with numerous Nigerian payment methods. Oyebolu projected that the platform could facilitate over ₦50bn in domestic flight bookings within its first year.

“Our investment in this infrastructure underscores our long-term commitment to the Nigerian market,” he added.

A Timely Relaunch

QuickAir’s relaunch comes at a critical time, as Nigeria’s domestic air travel continues to grow at an annual rate of 15 per cent. The company plans to onboard over 5,000 travel agents nationwide within six months. Existing customers can access the upgraded platform using their previous login credentials or contact support for assistance.

Looking Ahead

The restructuring and GDS relaunch signal a new era for QuickAir Networks Ltd. With a focus on innovation, efficiency, and customer empowerment, the company is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s expanding aviation landscape. As the industry continues to evolve, QuickAir’s commitment to providing cutting-edge technology and reliable services will be essential in meeting the growing demands of travelers and travel agents alike.
