Smart Energies Boosts Renewable Power Solutions

Expanding Clean Energy Access in Nigeria

Smart Energies, a leading provider of energy solutions in the domestic market, has announced an ambitious expansion of its business operations. This initiative focuses on the mass deployment of clean cooking gas and the introduction of innovative renewable energy solutions aimed at transforming access, affordability, and sustainability across Nigeria’s energy landscape.

The company is actively seeking partnerships with the government, development agencies, investors, and corporate entities to build strong collaborations that can drive the necessary momentum for scaling energy access and adoption. By working together, Smart Energies aims to create a more inclusive and sustainable energy future for all Nigerians.

A Range of Innovative Solutions

In a recent statement, Smart Energies revealed that it has launched several new products and services designed to bring clean and affordable energy to households and communities. These include electric motorcycles, solar-powered charging stations, cooking gas subsidy cards, and a newly introduced mobile app. The app provides users with real-time access to energy solutions, making it easier than ever to manage their energy needs.

According to the CEO of Smart Energies, Yinka Opeke, this expansion is part of the company’s broader growth strategy. She emphasized that Smart Energies is redefining energy access by combining innovation, inclusivity, and social impact. The company has been at the forefront of driving the government’s penetration programs, which aim to deepen the domestic market for various specifications of gas for cooking, commercial use, and other purposes.

Integrating Renewable Energy and Electric Vehicles

Under its business expansion program, Smart Energies has incorporated renewable energy and electric vehicles into an innovative business plan. This strategic move positions the company firmly within the clean energy sector. The launch of electric motorcycles, for instance, is empowering everyday Nigerians—ranging from delivery riders to entrepreneurs—to adopt clean mobility without the burden of upfront costs.

Opeke explained that the company prioritizes affordability and flexibility for riders by offering daily, weekly, and monthly rentals, as well as lease-to-own programs spanning three months, six months, and one year. This approach ensures that more people can access clean transportation options without financial strain.

Addressing Economic Pressures with Subsidy Cards

To reinforce its commitment to promoting cooking gas in Nigerian homes, Smart Energies has introduced prepaid subsidy cards for cooking gas. This digital transaction solution helps subsidize cooking gas, allowing families to access clean cooking fuel at discounted rates. The program was developed in response to the economic pressures faced by many households.

“This innovation is critical in preventing communities from reverting to firewood and other harmful fuels due to rising costs,” Opeke said. “By making clean energy more affordable, Smart Energies is helping to protect health, preserve the environment, and ensure energy equity. Our mission is not just to power homes and businesses; it’s to empower communities.”

Commitment to Sustainability and Social Impact

Dr. Opeke highlighted that Smart Energies operates with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles at its core. The company’s initiatives align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. From the Trash-for-Gas campaign that distributed over 70,000 cooking gas cylinders to LPG safety training for communities, Smart Energies consistently places people at the center of its operations.

The company has also introduced a mobile app that integrates services for clients, drivers, and gas retailers. This digital platform enables real-time access to affordable, safe, and clean energy solutions across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Call for Collaboration

Opeke emphasized that Smart Energies is built on collaboration. She noted that the challenges of market development in the country are too great for one company to handle alone. Therefore, the company is actively seeking partnerships with governments, development agencies, investors, and private sector players across Africa and globally.

“Energy is the backbone of development. Together, we can create solutions that not only power economies but also uplift lives,” she stated. Through these collaborative efforts, Smart Energies aims to accelerate sustainable energy adoption and make a lasting impact on Nigeria’s energy landscape.
