Empowering Entrepreneurs with AI: Telecel Ghana's Initiative
Telecel Ghana has taken a significant step in supporting the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by organizing a three-day Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop in Accra. This event was part of the company’s SME Month celebrations, which focused on the theme “Connecting the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs.” The initiative aimed to equip young entrepreneurs with the knowledge and tools needed to leverage AI for business success.
The workshop brought together participants from various sectors such as technology, agriculture, fashion, hospitality, and consulting. These entrepreneurs engaged in sessions that combined hands-on demonstrations with forward-looking discussions about the future of business in an AI-driven world. The goal was to help them understand how AI can enhance their operations, improve efficiency, and provide a competitive edge.
Micah Akati, founder of MidBrew AI Agency and lead trainer for the workshop, played a crucial role in guiding participants through practical modules. He covered topics such as using AI tools for market research, video creation, presentations, client pitches, continuous learning, and digital brand management. According to Akati, AI is becoming essential for emerging businesses. He emphasized that startups should view AI as a valuable companion that can compensate for limitations in finance or labor. He noted that AI helps save time and resources while boosting productivity.
Godwin Okronipa, co-founder of Flywheel Technologies, shared his experience from the workshop. He mentioned that the sessions provided him with new insights into deploying AI within his year-old business. Okronipa was particularly impressed by the AI video tools that can enhance client pitches as his company scales and positions itself in the digital solutions space.
Telecel Ghana highlighted that this initiative aligns with its strategic commitment to support young businesses in integrating AI into their operations. The company believes that advanced technology is reshaping industries worldwide, and it is vital for SMEs to adapt to stay competitive. Tawa Bolarin, Director of Enterprise Business at Telecel Ghana, stated that the company aims to give the next generation of entrepreneurs a head start by connecting them to tools that enable innovation and competitiveness. He added that AI is no longer optional for SMEs; it is central to how they grow, stand out, and survive.
As part of SME Month, Telecel launched three tailored connectivity products designed to help small businesses stay competitive in the digital economy. These include:
